No Alliteration today.. Just a Title..

Happy Saturday my loves!

I hope everyone is having a safe and happy weekend! Today was day 2 of Tai Cheng for Imageme and while the Neural Reboot was the same, the tai chi move changed.

Today was the Pheonex Tail. While it was graceful and peaceful, Dr. Cheng went into an explanation on how the move could be used in combat.. you have absolutely no idea how much that made my life!! It was like MCMAP, but without having to neglect my light duty chit!

One thing I can say about this whole thing is that it is most definitely teaching me patience. It makes you pay attention to every move and twitch you make so you can get the move exactly right. I find it frustrating because I’m so used to moving quickly and doing everything that I can at once. But I am getting used to it.. and may possibly slowly starting to like it 🙂

I’ll be back tomorrow with my take on the Ward Off movement! Toodles!

Fantabulous Friday!

Hello again my darlings,

Today was my first official day of Tai Cheng! My obnoxious room mate finally moved out and my other roomie doesn’t play here too often so I actually have space and privacy to Imageget shit done!

It was a lot slower paced than I anticipated, which is kind of irritating but something that I’ll have to get used to. Hopefully it will not only turn into a fixer for my hip but also a de-stressor. Especially now that we’re getting into trig-like math and I’m not doing so well in my studies… I’m hoping it will help my brain to clear and give me a little more focus 🙂

On another Beachbody note, I’m still looking to do that Les Mills Challenge starting May 13th if everything is kosher with medical by then (which it should be). So if you’re interested check out my website by clicking right hurr! All of the links to my social sites are on the bottom of that page as well if you need extra ways of contacting me 😀

Then on a completely different note; today was wicked awesome! The nook that I ordered shipped out today, I finally got to do my program, and I got off at around 1330 instead of 1700 like usual! So I only had to stay in my service charlies for 8 hours instead of 11! It was just glorious! I am a very happy camper right now! I hope everyone is in about the same boat as I am, and I hope you all have a safe and exciting/relaxing weekend! I’m gonna go break open my book and chill the rest of the evening. Tata!

Simple Tuesday, Trivial Problems, Imma Bitch Anyway

 Hello Darlings,

It is Tuesday of the slowest week of my life. Between all of last weeks excitement and my unsocial, Gossip-Girl-addicted roommate moving out this weekend its just been slow… hints the whole slowest week of my life…

The sad day that I rip a pair of jeans…

To continue my bitching, I had a disgruntled Staff Sargent chew my ass for using my phone at the school house when the kid directly next to me had it directly infront of his face and did get so much as a look in his direction. Then, on my way home I had two Marines tell me not wear my diddy/war bag slung, at which point I explained to them that while I would love more than anything to cary my bag like everyone else and not have to use chaffing cream on the backs of my legs from the constant rubbing, I have a fractured pelvis and have no other way to distribute the weight evenly so that it doesn’t put weight in the wrong place.. then they gave me a thumbs up and sent me on my way…

THEN!! I come home to the awkward situation of my roomie being in an argument with her boy-toy and then rip one of my three pairs of serviceable jeans trying to slip them over my now massive-from-muscle-gains theighs…

It, needless to say, has been a mess. While yes, most of my issues were insanely trivial.. its still insanely frustrating for some reason so I felt that I should rant to get some steam offImage before I start on my homework.

On the bright side I passed both my written exam and practical application exam for Annex 1! So I am now in Annex Numero Dos! I also got a wonderful package full of civilian attire and combat boots… AND! I finally got my interwebz set up, so now I don’t have to sit in a crowded lounge or an awkwardly silent library to post and whatnot.

Speaking of which, I’ve started watching Portlandia on Netflix. Its like Its Always Sunny in Philadelphia except in Portland, and mostly making fun of hippies and feminists.. I find it amusing and felt I should share with all of you lovely bodies out yonder. Thats all I’ve got right now though.. evening chow is starting to call my name 🙂

St. Patty’s Day Shuffle

Hello Lovlies,

Happy St. Patty’s Day! Thus far its been a pretty uneventful weekend, but it has been a Imagevery accomplished one by way of procrastination. I’ve finished a very good book titled The Paris Wife about Ernest Hemingway’s first wife. It was very poetic and very sad but insanely good!! I recommend it to anyone who likes the Golden Age sort of writing. Then, after a thrilling trip to the base library, I’ve started on The Curious Case of Benjamin Button and Other Jazz Age Stories by F. Scott Fitzgerald (the same guy who wrote The Great Gatsby). I haven’t gotten very far in it but it has promise 🙂 All the while I should be studying for my first Annex test which happens to be tomorrow… but thats what study groups are for right?! Right!

On a completely different note I am on day three of Shakeology and I already feel 10937598365y018237 (yes, there is a “y” in there.. its that much) times better than I did! My heartburn is now non-existent and I don’t feel nearly as much fog in my brain housing group.

Unfortunately, though, because of my room mate situation I am unable to fully start on Tai Cheng until Thursday evening when she moves out, but I’ve already decided on what to do when thats done and over with!

So hears my scheming idea! I was going through the programs that Beachbody has and found that the basic set for Les Mills Combat is only like $60! And on top of that, it requires absolutely no equipment (unless you want to use weighted gloves)! Meaning that I can do it in my itty-bitty space of a barracks room! Here’s what I was thinking though…

ImageInstead of me just doing it on my own and telling you my progress, why don’t I start a Challenge Group, get a couple of people in on it, and we can all let out our aggression and get to looking hella good as a team? I know it won’t be for a while since I have this whole fracture problem and I’m already doing Tai Cheng, but I was thinking a prospective date of May 13th-ish? What do you think? Are any of ya’ll game? Cause I’m not authorized to do MCMAP right now so I’m friggin ready!

The Joys of Crutches

Hello All,

Today is a big day! I got my package from beachbody today!! Meaning that I can start on Imagemy beloved Shakeology and Tai Cheng and get my hip/pelvis all back in order.

I know I haven’t written much, but things have gotten a bit on the busy side. There were all sorts of fun things on base this week (silent drill team, my 15 trillionth sexual harassment class, fun run…) which made classes a little rushed and homework infinite. Plus, I’ve had to crutch everywhere which takes FOREVER!

The reason for the crutching is that I went to medical last week after our initial PFT because during the three mile run instead of loosening up after getting my muscles warmed up, my leg fully locked up causing me to have to hobble-run my three miles… then it stiffened up so I could barely walk when my muscles cooled down. Anywho, an x-ray was taken and I found that apparently that pain in my hip that I thought was of the muscular type since the end of Recruit Training in December was actually a pelvic

fracture. They put me on crutches, gave me 30 days of light-duty, and told me they would call me and then never did…

At the end of this week though my crutches became completely unusable because ofcrutching on sand and rocks so I am back to hobbling around until I can get to medical to get looked at again and beg not to get another set, cause I hate those nasty metal cripple-sticks…

As far as the various events on base goes; the silent drill team was effing amazing and so was the drum and bugle corps (they kind of go hand and hand), the sexual harassment was the same as every other UVA and harassment class that I’ve had since boot camp, and the fun run was fun to watch but unfortunately I could not participate… Image

Like I said at the very beginning though, I finally got my Tai Cheng and Shakeology!!! Its been here since Monday but this morning was the first time I’ve gotten the time to go to the mailroom and actually pick it up! I was so excited when I got to open the familiar beachbody packaging and go through all of the welcome whatnots!

I did my functions test as soon as I got the chance and it doesn’t look good, but like I said on instagram thats the reason I bought the program in the first place was to fix these problems! Then 90 days from now I’m going to start on Les Mills Combat! Who’s gonna join me?!

Gettin Mah Groove Back!

Image It is Sunday, and I still have a ton of stuff to do.. but because I am a procrastinator when it comes to said things, I am here.. and the interwebz won’t work when it comes to the programs I need so I’m taking a break..

Anywho, my main reasoning behind this post is to tell you that I ordered a new fitness program and some of that beautifully delicious Shakeology! 😀 The program I decided to order was Tai Cheng, because unfortunately sometime around the end of boot camp I wound up doing something to my hip and while I thought it healed during boot leave, it didn’t.. and it became worse during MCT.. So now, I’m trying to fix said problem as best I can without having to see a corpsman (I really don’t like doctors).

Image

Hopefully it gets here within this week so I can get started! I’m so excited to get fully back on track with everything! Now I just have to get better at planning and scheduling out my life and we will be all sorts of good to go!

That’s really all I have to say for this post. I’ve gotta get back to work. I hope everyone has enjoyed their weekend! Toodles ya’ll!

Saturday Morning Hooblagh!

Hello all,

It is Saturday again! Unfortunately it is a little busier this weekend than last weekend, but I’m all for it! Why? Because I’m picking up classes!! This means that I have to complete all sorts of online training, straighten out all fifty-billion and two of my uniforms, do  my laundry, and do a pre-field day because the room is a hot mess and a half. Sounds exciting right?

Its really not, but its better than sleeping all day like I did last weekend. I like to keep myself busy… Ever since I enlisted, I’ve always been doing something. So now, if I don’t have a plan, schedule, or just something to do, I go fucking NUTS!

This is why I’ve decided to go full force back into being a Beachbody coach. Doing this not only keeps me busy on my down time, but it pushes me to keep on my workouts, make healthy choices in the chowhall and to help people as Imagemuch as I can on my downtime. Its something that I’ve really missed doing and really can’t wait to get back into! There is nothing that makes me happier than seeing someone lose weight, get healthy, and become confident with themselves mentally and physically because of the impact that I could make in their life.

So, instead of buying myself a new pair of boots, I will be buying myself a new workout program and some of that amazingly delicious Shakeology that I’ve missed so much! I really hope you decide to join me in my journey because the only thing its going to do is help your life. Just throwing that out there 😉

For now though I need to get back to these “classes” and carry on with my plan of the day. Tata for now loves! Have a happy, fun, and safe weekend!

PS: March Madness starts tonight. VCUs gonna be causing some HAVOC up in here!!!  Just sayin ;p

The Joy of Field Days

Good Morning World,
Yesterday I picked up with what we call MAT platoon. It stands for Marines Awaiting Training and its where you go while you wait to pick up classes. Because a bunch of Marines changed rooms it required us to have what is known as a field day. Field days are when you clean the FUCK out of every crack and crevice in your room. It happens about once a week (usually Thursdays).
In light of this I feel like I should post a few tips on how to pass your inspection.

1) Clean any and every surface in your room.
-For those of you went to boot camp, it’s like getting your squad bay ready for inspection except on a smaller scale with fewer people.
-This includes tops of door frames, fire alarms, every single crevice of your bed, the insides of your drawers, all of your shelves… I figure your getting the picture.

-The best thing to use is probably Clorox or Lysol wipes. Mainly because it sterilizes everything more than something like pledge would. Especially since sickness in large groups like this spread like wild fire.

2) Clean all glass surfaces
-Obviously there can be no streaks. The best thing to use is either the foaming Windex, vinegar-water, or rubbing alcohol and news paper.

3) Clean head (bathroom).
-Toilet: use normal toilet cleaner for the inside of the bowl and Clorox wipes for the lid, lip of the bowl, and the outside.
-Shower: scrubbing bubbles all purpose cleaner is probably the best option. Just remove all shower products, spray the inside of the shower down, let it sit for a minute, rinse, then dry it out with a towel.
– Sinks: use the same all purpose cleaner as shower

4) Floors

-sweep and vacuum about two or three times.

– pour a bit of cleaner into a bucket with some hot water, grab a cleaning rag, and wipe down your floors (this is for it you have tile or linoleum).
-use something that smells über clean. I prefer Mr. Clean with febreeze. The reason being is that it will make your room smell really clean (especially if the area right next to the door is tile or linoleum).
-sweep and vacuum once or twice more.

5) Make your racks (beds) look tiiighhtt!!
– some people tape them, some people use boot bands. Just makes sure the covers are pulled mad tight and its made boot camp style (12 inches of white).

6) Keep your closets and wall lockers looking neat and organized.
-this means all uniforms on hangers and out of your garnet bags, no trash, and you have a place for everything.

I think that covers just about everything that needs to be done to pass an MOS school field day inspection 😉 I hope this helped someone. Have a fantastic Tuesday! Toodles y’all!

Starting Over

Hello World,
20130223-123848.jpg

It’s been a while. While this blog is a fresh one, know that I’ve had many. Every one of the starts off with good intentions and good ideas and ends with discouragement, disappointment, and a minor lack of an attention span.
Since the last blog, I’ve go e through Marine Corps boot camp, combat training, and am getting ready to pick up in MOS school in the desert of California. I’m not allowed to leave base and there is only so much that you can do that doesn’t require spending money so I’ve decided to pick up blogging again. I figure it’ll give me something to do during liberty hours when I’m not studying.
I also figure it’ll be a good chance to document my experience for future Marines (especially those of the female variety), because I know how much it sucks to walk into things practically blindfolded. It isn’t fun.
I’m also a minor fitness junkie, meaning that I will be documenting my progress and nutritional whatnots here as well. You have no clue how excited I am to be getting back on a regular healthy eating and workout schedule. During about 20 or so of the 29 days of combat training out meals consist of MREs (2500 calories of unpreishable preserved “goodness”) and boxed chows. Now, I get 3 square meals of freshly made food of my choosing at the chow hall every day. My life is made.
Blogging also helps me get back into helping others improve their lives, because its something that I love to do. So, if you have any questions about anything, feel free to ask because I’m just a good helpful human being like that.On that note, I need to wrap this up because I’m writing this post from my phone and my attention span in this post is dwindling.. I hope everyone is enjoying their weekend! Stay safe! Toodles!!
